Help us look after the people who look after horses.
Equine Veterinary & Dental Services (EVDS) has been operating since 2002. Over that time, we have trained more than 1,200 veterinarians through more than 65 postgraduate veterinary workshops, while also supplying specialised equine dental instruments, equipment, education and support to veterinarians throughout Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
We are now looking for an exceptional person to join our small team as our Customer Experience & Business Growth Coordinator. This is not simply a reception or administration role. It is an important position for someone who enjoys people, loves getting things organised, follows things through and gets genuine satisfaction from helping customers and making a business work better.
The role
You will become one of the key connections between EVDS and our veterinary customers.
Your role will include:
-
Responding warmly and efficiently to customer enquiries by phone, email and online channels
-
Helping customers with dental instrument, equipment and veterinary training enquiries
-
Preparing quotations and following them through
-
Following up customers who have expressed interest in products, workshops or training
-
Helping veterinarians register for and prepare for EVDS training events
-
Assisting with customer communication before and after workshops
-
Maintaining accurate customer and sales information and helping us make better use of our database
-
Supporting profitable sales of our dental instruments, equipment and education programs
-
Helping identify customers who may genuinely benefit from other EVDS products, services or training
-
Assisting our Operations Manager and Founding Director with customer, sales and business-growth activities
-
Working with our events team to help workshops run smoothly
-
Helping improve the systems and processes behind the EVDS customer experience
-
Looking for ways to make repetitive work simpler, faster and more effective
Who we are looking for
We are much more interested in finding the right person than finding someone with a particular job title on their CV. You may have worked in customer service, account management, professional services, agriculture, veterinary or medical businesses, events, education, sales coordination, hospitality or another customer-focused industry.
You do not need previous veterinary or equine dentistry experience. We can teach you our products, services and industry.
What matters most is the way you approach your work.
-
Genuinely enjoys helping people and providing exceptional service
-
Is warm, positive, hopeful and easy to deal with
-
Communicates confidently on the telephone and in writing
-
Is highly organised and follows things through rather than leaving loose ends
-
Takes ownership when something needs to be done
-
Enjoys being part of a small, supportive team
-
Is comfortable speaking with customers about products and services
-
Understands that excellent customer service and a healthy, profitable business go hand in hand
-
Learns new technology and software readily
-
Is curious, adaptable and enjoys finding better ways of doing things
-
Responds positively to change, progress and continuous improvement
-
Can work independently without needing constant supervision
-
Brings solutions, energy and initiative rather than simply identifying problems
EVDS is continually evolving, and we are particularly interested in people who get excited rather than uncomfortable when they hear: “There must be a better way of doing this.”
We believe the best businesses combine old-fashioned personal customer service with modern technology and smarter systems. We want someone who is technically savvy, keen to keep learning and genuinely excited by progress - while never losing the human touch that our customers value.
A pretty special place to work
EVDS is based on a beautiful 60-acre property only around five minutes from town. The property borders State Forest, with walking and mountain-biking tracks nearby, so although we are close to South Grafton, the workplace feels very different from a conventional office environment.
We actively encourage our team to get away from their desks regularly during the day. Where the day’s workload allows, staff are encouraged to take a short walk, stretch their legs, get some fresh air and reset approximately every couple of hours.
Our office kitchen also has a seriously good coffee machine, and well-behaved dogs are welcome at work too - provided they are friendly, safe and capable of contributing to the culture without creating complete chaos!
It is a relaxed and friendly environment, but we take our customers, our work and the quality of what we deliver very seriously.
Our culture
EVDS is deliberately a relatively small team.
We have worked hard to create a workplace where people enjoy coming to work, support one another and can build a rewarding job around a good life.
-
Kindness
-
Honesty
-
Positivity
-
Initiative
-
Loyalty
-
Good humour
-
Respect for one another
-
Excellent customer service
-
Continuous improvement
-
Helping teammates when they need it
We do not want unnecessary office politics, backstabbing or unhealthy competition between team members. Where possible, we try to create working arrangements that allow good people to achieve strong remuneration while still having time for family and the other things that matter to them.
Working arrangements & remuneration
The position is expected to be approximately 32 hours per week over four days. For the right person, there will be considerable autonomy and the opportunity to make the role their own, there will also be the option to choose work days/hours for the right applicant.
Indicative remuneration: $68,000-$79,000 + superannuation for approximately 32 hours per week, depending on experience, capability and the level of responsibility the successful applicant is able to take on. The final package may be tailored for an exceptional candidate.
As your knowledge and ability develop, there may be opportunities to take greater responsibility for customer experience, sales coordination, events, marketing support, customer relationship management, business systems and growth initiatives.
We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of EVDS, rather than simply someone looking for their next job.
What success looks like
-
Customers receive exceptional service and enquiries are answered promptly
-
Quotes, leads and genuine opportunities are consistently followed through
-
Prospective customers are not forgotten
-
Workshop participants feel exceptionally well looked after

Our customer and sales information remains accurate and useful

Our systems continue improving and repetitive work is reduced wherever practical
-
Our team spends more time on valuable work and less time on unnecessary administration

Ultimately, this role is about helping EVDS serve our customers better while continuing to build a strong, progressive and sustainable business.
